PlayFight (existence editions)
PlayFight (existence editions) is a unique workshop using movement to explore the boundaries between play, assertion and aggression. Sometimes these will focus on existential themes, including: birth, death, isolation, alterity and meaninglessness.
It draws on somatic and movement inquiry, which emerges from community-based PlayFight and QueerFight practices hosted across Europe, emerging particularly the Berlin and UK lineages. My lineage draws upon these and also the contemporary phenomenology of movement.
Through individual, partner and whole-group work, participants safely explore our experiences of joy, rage, anticipation, threat, confrontation, curiosity, and experiment with new grounded and embodied responses to them.
You don’t need to have done this kind of work before to take part. This isn’t a self-defence, martial arts or dance improvisation class, though you should be open to the possibility of physical proximity and contact.
Everyone involved is invited to move within their own limits.
Dr Marc Boaz leads the workshops. He has previously run editions of PlayFight since 2017, including open therapeutic workshops (UK), community-focused in UK and Europe, dedicated sessions for psychotherapists and counsellors, and an international online version during the COVID pandemic.
Any future PlayFight (existence editions) will be advertised here, and on eventbright.
